Loops

Vehicle Loops and Loop Detectors are used to detect the presence of a vehicle to open a gate, or as a safety device to prevent the gate from closing on a vehicle in its path.

There are 2 types of Vehicle Loops; Direct Burial or Cut-In. Direct Burial Loops are used in new driveway construction and are placed below the asphalt or concrete. You can also use a direct burial loop on earth or gravel by trenching it about 4” below the surface.

Cut-In Loops are used on existing cement and asphalt driveways and require a 1” deep slot, cut with a diamond blade on a small Skill Saw. The loop wire has special insulation to withstand the moist, chemical laden environment of driveways.
