MODEL 1816 Telephone Intercom System

The model 1816 Telephone Intercom System is a unique communication and access control device that provides two-way voice communication and control of a main entry door through the resident’s own telephone without the need of a central office (C.O.) phone line. This eliminates the need for costly hard-wired intercom systems, monthly line charges and equipment lease payments.

The model 1816 is a component style system that consists of a lobby panel, main control cabinet and line interface board. The system is built in accordance with the number of telephone lines to be interfaced with.

Options
• Several different styles of lobby panels are available for use with this system .
• A standard touch-tone telephone can be used as the lobby panel with this system.
• PC Programmable 1833, 1834, 1835 and 1837 systems can be used as lobby panels with this system (A central Office (C.O.) phone line must be used with this system when PC programming lobby panels are installed).
• Installing a Central Office (C.O.) phone line provides additional advanced features.

For Every 12 Phone Lines, the System requires:
•One main control or garden cabinet
• One relay board
• One connecting cable
• One RJ71C phone block

Step 2 - Select Relay Boards

DoorKing 1982-010 Relay Board
• Interfaces with up to 12 phone lines
• To determine the number of relay boards needed, divide the total number of phone lines by 12, round up to the nearest whole number. IE: 270 phone lines ÷ 12 = 22.5. Round up to 23. For 270 phone lines you will need 23 relay boards.

Step 3 - Select Decoder Board(s) If Needed

DoorKing 1881-010 Decoder Board
• Required when the system expands beyond 5 relay boards
• One decoder board is required for every 8 relay boards added thereafter.
• To determine the number of decoder boards required, subtract 5 from the total number of relay boards needed, then divide this number by 8 and round up to the nearest whole number: 23 - 5 = 18. 18 ÷ 8 = 2.25. Round up to 3. For 270 phone lines you will need 3 decoder boards.
